#MovieReview: "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story"

Really Disney? I know you want to make back the money you paid Lucas to give you Star Wars (and to stop destroying my childhood), but a Star Wars episode every other year, and some stupid filler movie in-between?

How can this be any good?

And Rogue One: A Star Wars Story? Stealing the plans to the Death Star? Really?

And you had to do some reshoots, so we know the movie probably sucks...

Oh yeah, it stars: Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Alan Tudyk, Donnie Yen, Wen Jiang, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, Riz Ahmed, and Mads Mikkelsen -- so it has the most diverse cast in the history of Star Wars.

From Google:

In a time of conflict, a group of unlikely heroes band together on a mission to steal the plans to the Death Star, the Empire's ultimate weapon of destruction. This key event in the Star Wars timeline brings together ordinary people who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves.

#MovieReview: "Office Christmas Party"

Another R-rated Christmas movie you say, by the name of Office Christmas Party?

A guilty pleasure for those naughty adults stuck in this time of sickly sweet Christmas fare?

Yes please!

Starring Jason Bateman, Olivia Munn, T.J. MillerJennifer Aniston and Kate McKinnon, how bad could it be really?

From Google:

When the CEO tries to close her hard-partying brother's branch, he and his chief technical officer must rally their co-workers and host an epic office Christmas party in an effort to impress a potential client and close a sale that will save their jobs.

#MovieReview: "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them"

Ever since the Marvel Cinematic Universe, everybody wants their own to play with (and make billions from), and so the J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World now exists as well. Its first extension since the Harry Potter series: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

Starring Eddie Redmayne, Dan Fogler, Katherine Waterston, and Colin Farrell, can they recapture the magic of Harry Potter?

From Google:

The year is 1926, and Newt Scamander has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. Arriving in New York for a brief stopover, he might have come and gone without incident, were it not for a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob, a misplaced magical case, and the escape of some of Newt's fantastic beasts, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

#MovieReview: "Almost Christmas"

So my first Christmas movie of the year was Almost Christmas.

It stars Danny Glover, Gabrielle Union, J.B. Smoove, Kimberly Elise, Mo'Nique, Omar Epps, Romany Malco, and Jessie T. Usher.

Via Google:

Walter Meyer is a retired mechanic who lost the love of his life one year earlier. Now that the holiday season is here, he invites daughters Rachel and Cheryl and sons Christian and Evan to his house for a traditional celebration. Poor Walter soon realizes that if his bickering children and the rest of the family can spend five days together under the same roof, it will truly be a Christmas miracle.

#MovieReview: "Ouija: Origin of Evil"

So it's time to review the prequel to Ouija (which I've only seen in a Cinema Sins on YouTube), Ouija: Origin of Evil.

The stars are: Annalise Basson, Elizabeth Reaser, Henry Thomas, and Lulu Wilson.

From Google:

"In 1967 Los Angeles, widowed mother Alice Zander unwittingly invites authentic evil into her home by adding a new stunt to bolster her séance scam business. When the merciless spirit overtakes her youngest daughter Doris, the small family must confront unthinkable fears to save her and send her possessor back to the other side."

#MovieReview: "Doctor Strange"

Continuing the Marvel Cinematic Universe juggernaut, Benedict Cumberbatch assumes the titular role of Doctor Strange.

This film also stars the following excellent actors: Chiwetel Ejiofor (Mordo), Mads Mikkelsen (Kaecilius), Rachel McAdams (Christine Palmer), Benedict Wong (Wong), and Tilda Swinton (The Ancient One).

Can Benedict crossover from genius detective (Sherlock Holmes) to genius doctor/sorcerer?

From Google:

"Dr. Stephen Strange's life changes after a car accident robs him of the use of his hands. When traditional medicine fails him, he looks for healing, and hope, in a mysterious enclave. He quickly learns that the enclave is at the front line of a battle against unseen dark forces bent on destroying reality. Before long, Strange is forced to choose between his life of fortune and status or leave it all behind to defend the world as the most powerful sorcerer in existence."

#MovieReview: "The Accountant"

When last we saw Ben Affleck he was portraying the grimmest, darkest version of Batman -- and that's saying something!

But now, along with Anna Kendrick, J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, and Cynthia Addai-Robinson, he stars as The Accountant.

Is this a step-down? A lateral move? A step up?

From Google:

"Christian Wolff is a mathematics savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Using a small-town CPA office as a cover, he makes his living as a freelance accountant for dangerous criminal organizations. With a Treasury agent hot on his heels, Christian takes on a state-of-the-art robotics company as a legitimate client. As Wolff gets closer to the truth about a discrepancy that involves millions of dollars, the body count starts to rise."
