Ah, the first "prequel" in the Machete Order comes in at #3: Star Wars Episode II - Attack of the Clones.
It really does make the story flow much better ignoring The Phantom Menace entirely.
Jumping backward in time after Luke learned who his father really was, we see the beginning of the love affair that doomed a galaxy: Anakin Skywalker & Padme Amidala, but which also conceived a new hope as well (see what I did there?).
Oh this could have been so much better! It pains me to see how they wasted the action scenes...
The worst being Jango Fett dying like so much of a punk after George Lucas hyped up the fight between him and Mace Windu... Treachery most foul, George!!
This movie really showed how fat & lazy the Jedi Order had become. It was almost criminally easy for the Sith to rise up and seize power against such ineffectual opposition...
Granted Darth Sidious' plan was very meticulous, and decades in the making... But still, the Jedi clearly believed their own hype.
An OKAY watch overall.
