The end of Star Wars.
I didn't want to watch Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, but my nephew wanted to watch it so off to the cinema I went!
I had previously read and watched voraciously all the bad reviews and spoilers for the film, so I hoped that with rock bottom expectations I would be able to at least enjoy the spectacle of it all on screen.
From Google:
"The surviving Resistance faces the First Order once more as Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Poe Dameron's (Oscar Isaac) journey continues. With the power and knowledge of generations behind them, the final battle commences."
Well, that happened.
In the words of Anthony Daniels (C3-P0), "After 40 years, this is it?"
I'm glad I checked out all the spoilers so that I would be mentally prepared for what I saw.
It is a technically well made film: cinematography & special effects wise, meanwhile John Williams' score was doing it's very best to try and make you feel something.
The cinema was as quiet as a tomb, even at the very end. My brother (who had watched it once before, and in fact had enjoyed it) fell asleep at some point near the end.
The plot, characters, and just about everything broke with what works or makes sense in the Star Wars saga.
Disney was the true Sith, and they have failed us all.
