It took much longer than it should have, but I got distracted doing other things to finish this experiment...
For those of you who have forgotten, I was re-watching the Star Wars series in the Machete Order, which goes as follows:
- Episode 4 - A New Hope
- Episode 5 - The Empire Strikes Back
- Episode 2 - Attack of the Clones
- Episode 3 - Revenge of the Sith
- Episode 6 - Return of the Jedi
And only now at the end (Return of the Jedi) do I understand. ;-)
So while the Star Wars saga seems to be about the rise, fall, and redemption of Anakin Skywalker, it is interesting to see how his life and Luke's were so similar and yet so very different.
It is those differences that allow Luke to do what Anakin could not: turn away from the Dark Side when confronted with the loss of his loved ones. Now, faced with the potential loss of his children, Anakin ceases to be Darth Vader to save them and sacrifice himself.
A real space opera!
GREAT FUN!
QBF Rating: 4.5/5
PS: In conclusion, I enjoyed the Machete Order, but I missed the epic fight scene of Qui-Gon Jinn & Obi-Wan Kenobi vs Darth Maul from Episode I: The Phantom Menace... It was in my opinion the best fight scene of the entire saga!
