So, basically nothing can stop this franchise at this point, other than everyone who owns the rights dying? We're gonna be hearing about Fast & Furious 27 at some point I'm sure, but for now Furious 7 is what I'll be reviewing today.
Starring the usual suspects, including the late Paul Walker, this movie is everything you expect it to be. Fast cars, ludicrous stunts (ha!), and hot women are all on display... Plus there are some nice jokes to go along with it all to try and mask the lack of any reasonable plot.
Now before you click on the trailer, the BEST STUNTS are in the trailer! There are other possibly crazier stunts, but I repeat, THE BEST STUNTS are in the trailer so watch at your peril!
The last FF movie went into the realm of super-heroics, and more of that is on display, however to properly enjoy this movie you need to do three things:
- Ignore any and everything you know about the characters' various talents and abilities.
- Apply a HEFTY dose of suspension of disbelief.
- Apply another dose of suspension of disbelief!
This would probably be a much better movie had Paul Walker lived (obviously), but they rearranged things to hit you over the head with Brian moving on from the furious lifestyle from the very start. So if you never saw one of these movies before, you know he's either gonna die or retire. However, everyone knows they didn't want to kill his character, so all the suspense never materialises.
Also, it seemed like it was a videogame, with stages and cutscenes for dialogue... an odd choice to me.
DO NOT GET ROBBED AND PAY 3D-PRICE for this movie like I did. I think the only purpose it may serve is to limit camera copies from being uploaded to the internet.
I'd say this is WORTH A FREE VIEWING.
