D&D (or Dungeons & Dragons) is and has been a big part of my life. It gives me and some of my closest friends an excuse to hang out once a week, chat f**kery, and have some laughs together! Today's throwback references my first encounter with the game (which I had submitted to the Table Titans website and was posted here).

Why Can’t We Be Friends?
Posted by Howard E. Scott on November 06, 2013
I have been playing RPGs for over 20 years now, but my very first game will forever stick with me. I had tagged along with my older brother for a game of Advanced Dungeons & Dragons, and he and his friends FINALLY allowed me to play.
I don't remember my character's name but I do remember he was a Ranger. He died a most ignominious death.
It happened after our first encounter with some creatures (probably Orcs), and we had been victorious. However, now the loot had to be shared.
This is where things got a bit out of hand as "equitable sharing" wasn't a concept understood by teenage boys.
Soon factions formed. I, of course, sided with my brother.
By the time the last d20 was rolled all but one of the members of the party was now deceased. Including my Ranger.
So ended the campaign. The victorious winner rode into the sunset with the treasure and, I believe, opened a tavern. Well, what else do you do when there is no one left to adventure with?
